Recy Taylor
One somber day in Abbeville, Alabama a young wife and mother was walking home from church when she was abducted by 6 white men. The armed men raped and left a blindfolded Recy Taylor on the side of the road.

Even though the ordeal was terrifying, and the men threatened her with death if you told anyone. She immediately went to the police and reported the attack. Her report fell on Deaf ears during the Jim Crow era. The six men were never tried for the terrible act. Nonetheless, her case gained national attention including that of Rosa Parks.

This past December the brave civil right hero passed a few days before her 98th birthday. On this day we remember and thank her strength and courage
